SOLARITE Hot Melt Sealants
Hot melt sealants, recommended for gas and water-blocked cable constructions, are stabilized blends of elastomers and functional fillers. All are compounded from virgin raw materials and exhibit excellent processability for sophisticated cabling operations. Application temperatures are generally in the range of 275°F to 325°F depending upon cable construction and areas to be sealed. Solar Compounds' Linden, NJ manufacturing facility includes a full spectrum of mixing equipment for processing hot melt products, solvent based products, and high viscosity materials. Lab mixers, pilot plant, and full scale production mixers are available for most product types.
Solar's two-component, room temperature vulcanizing silicones (RTVS) are ideally suited to production mixing and automatic dispensing equipment. These reversion resistant materials feature excellent electrical properties, service temperatures of -50°C to 200°C, and will cure within 24 hours at room temperature or in as fast as 15 minutes at 140° F.

Solar Compounds performs product development for wire and cable manufacturers in our fully equipped New Jersey R&D laboratories and pilot testing facilities. Batch processes are carried out in full scale production for the manufacturing of specialized industrial paints, coatings, sealants, mastics, hot melts, asphaltics, and adhesives.

A cross section of Solar's manufacturing equipment includes 50 to 5000 gallon hot melt and asphalt kettles, high viscosity mixers including Ross Double Planetary and Sigma Double Arm, rake and solvent based mixers, high speed mixers, blending tanks, and product filtration and vacuum capabilities.

Solvent containing co-polymer based semi-conducting coating for bonding between insulation and semi-insulating layers.
Acetone based lacquer for applying color coats over Solar's cable finishes like KF-2591B. MW-4150 lacquers meet AT&T Specifications 59115 and Bell Core Specification GR347
A solvent-free, water-based coating. Produces high-gloss coatings when dried. For use over PVC, neoprene, and hypalon cable construction for color coding and identification. Available in various custom colors.
Solvent based clear co-polymer silicone saturant and finishes designed for fiberglass, fluorocarbon fibers, etc. to eliminate fraying for high temperature wires. MW-4339FR is the fire retardant version.
A semi-conductive, water based coating/saturant for glass and Kevlar yarns used in spark ignition wires. Base is composed of heat reactive acrylic resins compounded with proper wetting agents and defoamers. Formulated to be a highly elastic, flexible coating with excellent adhesion with good chemical and compound stabilities.
Water based co-polymer silicone for coating braids requiring high temperature performance. Recommended for 600V appliance wires.
A solvent-based, fast-drying, clear, flame-retardant lacquer used in cable coating operations. Suitable for saturating cotton fiberglass and nylon braid. Provides a tough waterproof coating and is available in custom colors.
3107 and 3114-FR
Tough, flexible adhesive sealants recommended particularly in cables requiring high-pressure gas or water blocking.
Products developed to seal the interstices in fiber optic and metal conductor cables. Blends of elastomers and polyolefins, the compounds of which have been stabilized. All are compounded with virgin materials. All compounds can be made flame retardant upon request.
Hot melt sealants recommended for gas and water-blocked fiber optic cable constructions. All are compounded from virgin raw materials and exhibit excellent adhesion to most substances. Application temperatures are generally in the range of 275°F to 325°F depending upon cable construction and areas to be sealed. Compounds are applied either by immersion or pumped in at the closing die.

Fire-retardant clean stripping synthetic elastomer based cable sealant for cable valleys and strands meeting Mil-Specs: MIL-C-24643....2.1 and MIL-C-915 (SHIPS)
A general purpose mastic sealant and caulk designed for use in and around electrical apparatus, areas between conduit and electrical cables, electrical service entry, air conditioning and refrigeration equipment.
Semi-conducting strand sealer for power cables. A non-hardening co-polymer based mastic for effective water and gas blocking.
Electrical connector and cable sealant.
Semi-conducting strand sealer. Unique, tough, semi-hardening co-polymer based mastic for watertight and gas blocked power cables. Remains stable at 300°F and higher temperatures for short periods. Remains plastic with no shrinkage upon aging. Non corrosive to metals.
Solarite KM-2740 Series Silicone Sealants are 2-component room- temperature vulcanizing silicones with a convenient 1 to 1, by volume or weight, mix ratio. Well suited to automatic dispensing equipment used in sophisticated cabling operations. Their lightweight and excellent stripability make them ideal for sealing and blocking wire strands, cable valleys and braided shields used in the construction of power cables. Available in several standard viscosity grades and custom cure schedules.
Solarite KM-2740-4 Series Silicone Sealants are pourable 2-component room-temperature vulcanizing silicones with a convenient 1 to 1, by volume or weight, mix ratio. Well suited to automatic dispensing equipment. Their lightweight and excellent stripability make them ideal for sealing and blocking wire strands, cable valleys and braided shields used in the construction of power cables. Available in several other viscosity grades and custom cure schedules.
Heat curable, single component silicone recommended for the sealing of strands in watertight and gas block cable construction.
Designed as clean-stripping sealants. Cohesive is greater than adhesive strength.
Non-hardening, semi-conducting sealer for strands in power cables. Excellent resistance to water, water vapor and salt water.
Clean stripping cable sealant based upon elastomeric co-polymers providing excellent cohesive strength. Available in standard and lightweight versions.
Solarite KM-4200 Series Silicone Sealants: 7 - 9 million CPS viscosity, clean-stripping two-component, room-temperature, vulcanizing silicones with a convenient 1:1 by volume or weight mix ratio. Suited to automatic dispensing equipment. Recommended for the blocking and sealing of valleys in multi-conductor cables. Available in other custom viscosity specifications and cure schedules by special request.
Solarite KM-4200LV Series Silicone Sealants: 4.5 - 7 million CPS viscosity, clean-stripping two-component, room-temperature, vulcanizing silicones with a convenient 1:1 by volume or weight mix ratio. Suited to automatic dispensing equipment. Recommended for the blocking and sealing of valleys in multi-conductor cables. Available in other custom viscosity specifications and cure schedules by special request.
Specialty asphalt protective compound designed for jute, synthetic fiber, and wire armor serves on submarine cables. Homogenous blend of specially selected oxidized asphalts, hydrocarbon resin, and waxes. Designed for low-temperature flexibility and anti-blocking properties to facilitate cable manufacturing, storage, and cable laying operations. Environmental and user friendly.
Contains water-absorptive polymers.
Flame retardant, low smoke generation and free stripping cable sealant with a synthetic elastomer base. Designed for water tight cable constructions.
A light-weight polymer compound designed for the sealing of strands in water-tight power cables to prevent and absorb any water penetration. A homogeneous non-hardening sealant composed of a synthetic elastomer and polymer, with inert fillers. It contains super-absorbent polymers. It does not contain asbestos, oil hydrocarbons, or low molecular weight plasticizers. All ingredients are virgin materials.
Thermoplastic flooding compound made from a rubber modified elastomeric asphalt. Developed for use in between layers of composite metal and plastic to protect braided or severed armor in power cables.
A non-hardening sealant developed for application in cable strands and cabled insulated conductor valleys to prevent the conductance of water. It has an elastomeric polymer base into which specially selected fillers have been incorporated. It is non-migratory. It does not contain asbestos, oil, hydrocarbons, or low-molecular weight plasticizers. All ingredients are virgin materials.
A semi hardening sealant for high voltage power cable strands to prohibit the entrance of water and gas.
